Critique
Thank you to all exhibitors for a wonderful entry of utterly charming, beautifully presented dogs. I did have one major worry and that is that more than a few - and mostly youngsters - were very reluctant if not actually scared of having their heads touched yet were otherwise typically happy and lively. It transpired that every one of these had been roughly handled by former judges, who had forced their mouths wide open to the point that one’s upper gums had been cut and made to bleed by a judge’s long fingernails! This is a truly appalling state of affairs and quite unnecessary since a true dog loving judge who knows what they are doing can assess a bite of this breed simply by the shape of the muzzle combined with a gentle rub round the front. This is particularly applicable to puppies and juniors, who might well be still teething and whose confidence and show career can so easily be ruined by such unkind thoughtless behaviour. Surely all judges should consider it a great honour for exhibitors to enter under them simply and solely for their opinion and not to terrify their beloved dogs?
PD (9,1) 1 Steele’s Threadgold Locked N Loaded. Excellent make and shape with good topline, well marked and very fit. Good wide nostrils, shows typical white in both eyes. He moved beautifully, holding himself with pride. BPD 2 Swain’s Cholas Yoshio. Very mature for just 6 months, of excellent size and type with neat hare feet. A happy showman and very good mover who has everything going for him. 3 Davidson’s Sharlarna Trouble Maker
JD (7,2) 1 Farmer’s Sangria Moon Walk. A little charmer with gorgeous head, eye and expression. Dainty and typey, a joy to handle being so well made all through with good topline and firm on elbow, where he scored. A true toy and such a very good mover. 2 Rooney & Green’s Littletigers Innuendo with Jaschin. A smart showman with a beautiful head and slender hare feet. Holds himself so proudly and moved well. 3 Hubble & Summerbell’s Dabrives Silver Carrington
PGD (10,3) 1 Westwick & Davidson’s Hin Satorie Almazniy Vihr at Sharlarna (Imp Rus) Lovely head, eye and expression with good finish to muzzle and neat hare feet. Well conformed, in excellent coat of silky texture. A very good mover who won here with some ease. 2 Cushing’s Ennistar’s Katsero Akio at Spiritisle (Imp) Lemon sable & white. So good for make and shape with good body, feet and coat. An excellent mover. 3 Burns’ Yama Take A Chance
LD (13,3) 1 Westwick & Davidson’s Sharlarna Tyson. Such a handsome fellow, chock full of quality, squarely built with strong fine bone, excellent for size, type, make and shape. Beautiful head, eye and expression with good feet and finish to muzzle with lovely silky coat. A happy, energetic showman, who moved superbly to prove the excellence of his conformation. Most exciting. CC, his first 2 Schemel’s Chinart Yuunagi. A charming personality, in superb coat and condition with glamorous fringing. Lovely for size and type with good wide nostrils. A joy to handle being so well conformed all through with good tailset and carriage. No exaggerations here. Just a shame that he could not be found to challenge for the RCC but, despite every effort on our stewards’ behalf to discover his whereabouts, it was not to be. 3 Thomas’ Javalcy The Great Mikado
OD (8,3) 1 Pearce & Hann Ch Rakuchin Kenji Na. An impressive energetic showman, in fully mature coat, so good for make and shape with lovely head, and expression, showing that typical touch of white in the corners of his eyes, good hare feet. An excellent mover, obviously enjoying himself to the full, showing everyone how it should be done. I awarded him the RCC at Southern Cos in ‘17 and again here. RCC 2 Farmer’s Sangria De Ja Vous A charming chap with good finish to muzzle and neat hare feet. Very smart, in excellent coat and condition, lovely for size and type. He too moved extremely well if not going with quite the enthusiasm of the winner. 3 Doran’s Shardlow Mikado with Osakazuki
PB (14,2) 1 Davidson’s Sharlarna Booty Call. A showgirl to the Manor Born! Most impressive both standing and on the move, Lovely head, eye and expression with good finish to muzzle, already in such excellent coat and condition. Good for size and type, well balanced being both square and compact with good tailset and carriage. So stylish on the move. Close up to the larger green edged cards. BP 2 Farrugia & Farrugia’s Cholas Miki. Just six months at her first show yet so happy and full of confidence. Lovely for size, type, make, shape and balance with neat hare feet and good topline, tailset and carriage. Super sound, energetic and enthusiastic on the move. Most exciting. 3 Emmerson’s Ouzlewell’s Annya Taf
JB (7,1) 1 Wallhead’s Merida Marianna. A live wire only just out of puppy and full of quality. Excellent topline and balance, Lovely feminine head showing a touch of white in her eyes, well shaped hare feet. Typey and well made all through with good topline and layback of shoulder, enjoying herself to the full and holding herself proudly, she moved beautifully. 2 Quinn’s Harlouville Uptown Girl. Lovely for size and type, in good coat for her 14 months, well balanced. She has a most intelligent expression and good finish to muzzle, She moved well keeping her firm topline. 3 Holland-Smith Missy Dobry Rok at Kirdanchi (Imp Pol)
PGB (10,7) 1 Constable’s Arranbrook Hastobe at Mitapip. Lovely dark expressive eye and beautifully made all through with cobby body, good topline, layback of shoulder, turn of stifle and slender hare feet. She moved to match the excellence of her conformation. No exaggerations here. 2 Hudson & Steele’s Threadgold Minniehaha. Very feminine with a charming expression complete with a touch of white in the corners of her eyes and good nostrils. So stylish on the move, keeping her firm topline. 3 Curtis’ Aleemai A Million Dreams
LB (11,1) 1 Wallhead’s Merida Masquerade. Ultra feminine red & white complete with the mark of Buddha atop her beautiful head. Shows just a little white in the corners of her eyes with good finish to muzzle and typical hare feet, in lovely silky coat and fringing, in hard condition. So well conformed all through with good layback of shoulder. She moved to match the excellence of her make and shape. RCC, her second. 2 Hubble & Summerbell’s Dabrives Silver Dynasty. Well balanced, she too showed just a touch of white in the corners of her eyes. Lovely for size and type with all the parts fitting neatly and accurately into the whole. She too moved extremely well. 3 Forth’s Omegaville Ima Showgirl
OB (3,1) 1 Rooney & Green’s Ch Swifthocks Paws For Thought. Sweet head with a charming expression in her dark sparkling eyes showing a touch of white in the corners, good finish to foreface and slender hare feet. Gave her the RCC from Junior in ‘17 and how beautifully she has matured since then, still with the wow factor, so well balanced and lovely for size, type, make and shape. Elegant and aristocratic, she moved beautifully. CC which, I gather, was her 11th. 2 Mountcastle’s Sleepyhollow As Good As Gold for Holmchin. R/w very feminine and well made all through with good layback of shoulder and neat hare feet. She too moved well, just inclined to show her tongue at times.
VB (1) 1 Paradise’s Shardlow Knickerboka Glory Sh.CM B/w of typical size showing a little white in the corner of her eyes. A very accurate willing mover, just a bit short in neck. The only veteran entered and deserved BV.
