I would like to thank the Japanese Chin Club for the opportunity of judging the Breed Championship show.  The show was well run and I was supported by my efficient stewards which enabled me to enjoy my day.  I would like to thank the exhibitors for their entries.  The quality in some classes was excellent and difficult decisions had to be made.   On the downside, movement needs to be watched and has not improved since I last judged.   We are also beginning to lose the characteristic cobbiness of the breed with many dogs being low on the leg.  However, I am encouraged by some of the youngsters I saw today.

Veteran Dog or Bitch  (6,2)  A lovely class of veterans who were all a credit to their owners.    1. Pearce and Hann’s Holmchin Secret Affair with Rakuchin.   9 year old dog.  Generous, Head and dark eye.   Compact and square with lovely reach of neck.  Moved soundly, both ways.  A credit to his owners.  Delighted to award him BVIS.

  2. Farmer’s Sangria Riverdancer     A well known dog who has just tuned 7.  Classic head with lovely dark eye.  Level topline and in good coat.   A little overawed with the occasion.

3.  Crane’s Ch Sidlyn Wind of Change with Cranvarl JW Sh.cm  A mature 8year old bitch.  Lovely head and cobby body, providing a lovely shape.  Moved soundly both ways.

Minor Puppy Dog (5,3)  1.  Lindsay’s Cranvarl Roger at Anjuli    A precocious 7 month r/w puppy who took the eye as soon as he entered the ring.   A maturing head with good cushioning and lovely dark eyes.  Square in build, good reach of neck, level topline and well placed tail.  He strode around the ring with drive.    Delighted to award him BPIS/ BRWPIS       2.  Allen’s Sheardream Eric   A really pretty youngster full of promise.   At just 6 months he was small and super compact with a sweet head and lovely dark eye.    Not overawed by the occasion or new handler he moved really well both ways.  One for the future.     3. Mulrooney & Hoskins’      Somergemz Too Hot to Handle   A 7 month puppy who was a little intimidated by the occasion.  Nice head with dark eye and well placed ears.  Lovely level topline and well placed tail.   Moved well when he relaxed.

Puppy Dog (3,1)  1.  Partington-Palmer’s Sharlana’s Starman   11 month puppy A smart well coated youngster. Good breadth of skull, nice eye and well cushioned muzzle. Good for both size and balance. Level back with good tailset. Moved soundly.
